Second Day - The Nova Studio

The second day of learning at the NOVA Studio was very exciting!  (I can't wait to tell you about it.)

After a full nights sleep I was ready to learn "Hot Process".  Hot process allows soap makers to create soap safely without waiting the full 6 weeks for the soap bars to cure.  Technically they are safe to use after only 55 minutes.  WOW!!

Our first soap was a delicious smelling lemongrass and spice colored with yellow lab color.  I can't wait to buy some lemongrass fragrance and experiment.

After lunch the second half of the day was taught by David Critchfield of Mission Peak Soap.  I was very excited about meeting David because I purchase supplies from him but never had the opportunity to meet him.  David's presentation was "Big Batch".  He produced 144 bars of soap in one batch.  David was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the chemical make up of oil and other interesting topics.
Check out the biggest batch of soap ever.

Both Lori and David are excellent instructors and I would recommend this class to anyone serious about soap making.  I appreciated the amount of work and detail that was put into the lecture, hand outs and the presentations.

Now it is time to take what I have learned to put it into action.  Tonight I plan to use what I learned a make some soap that is sellable.

More to come on how it turns out.

Yeah Soap!
